Welcome to my Fitness Page.  My goal is to help you on your journey to get healthier and fitter all the while discovering that exercise can fun and rewarding. I also want to introduce you to the hottest fitness craze that is sweeping the nation.  I want to share with you my enthusiasm about Zumba® and my new love of Fitness to help you achieve your goal to be a fit you.  I will be taking that journey with you and together we will be fit to play for life (bfit2play4life).


Let's face it working out can be healthy, rewarding, beneficial. Working out can be lots of things, but it's never been known to be so much fun UNTIL NOW!

Q: What should I wear to Zumba®?
A: Wear loose, comfortable clothing. You WILL work up a sweat. Zumba® Fitness recommends that you wear "cross training" or "aerobic" style shoes. They provide the cushion and medial lateral support needed for side-to-side movements.  They also have low traction rubber for easy sliding and turning.  Please be careful with "running shoes" since they use a heavy tread on the bottom and are designed for forward movement. No bare feet please!

Q: What should I bring to the class?
A:  Plenty of water and a towel, because you will definitely SWEAT.  Bring your smile and great attitude ready to burn some calories.  Come join the Party!

Q: What if I'm not a very good dancer or have never taken dance?
A:  No dance background is necessary to enjoy a Zumba® class DON’T worry about the steps!!! Zumba® is all about having FUN while getting FIT, and burning calories. There are NO MISTAKES in Zumba®. Zumba® is designed for everyone, every shape and age.  Anyone can start a Zumba® class and have fun.  This program is not limited to dancers, fitness fanatics or seniors.  All exercisers from beginner to advanced will enjoy the benefits of a Zumba® class.  Both men and women will have fun!  Everyone is welcome!
Q: What is a typical Zumba® class like?
A:  A Zumba® class is typically one hour long. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. We start with a warm up, then move through 8-12 routines which vary in intensity and style - merengue, salsa, reggaeton, cumbia, even a little hip hop to name a few!  Zumba® blends traditional dance steps with basic fitness moves so everyone can participate - it's very easy to follow.  We then cool down and stretch to bring the heart rate down and relax the muscles.

Zumba® is fun...it's the type of exercise you'll want to do everyday and feel good about doing it!

Q: How is Zumba® different from other aerobics classes?
A: Unlike traditional aerobics class formats, Zumba® instructors incorporate mostly non-verbal cueing.  Non-verbal cueing allows the class to feel the music and movements rather than worry what the instructor is going to yell out next.  It's a fluid program; more like a party atmosphere than a fitness class.  I like to incorporate a combination of non-verbal and verbal cueing depending on the make-up of the class and how the individuals in the class are doing.

Q: How many calories will I burn in one class?
A: The number of calories each person burns per class varies. However, depending on your body parameters (type, composition, intensity, range of motion), you can burn hundreds of calories per class.
